All aboard for glamour, intrigue, and murder.
Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Nile arrives at The Barn Theatre in a stylish and immersive new production from Southwick Players, directed by Robert Tremayne. Set aboard the elegant paddle steamer Lotus as it travels the Nile, this is Christie’s original stage version of the story — thrillingly brought to life without Hercule Poirot, and instead placing the investigation in the hands of the quietly compelling Canon Pennefather.
A wealthy heiress sets off on a dream honeymoon, but beneath the glamour lie jealousy, obsession, and long-buried secrets. When murder shatters the illusion of paradise, the steamer becomes a closed world of suspicion, where every passenger has something to hide and no one can escape the truth.
This production invites audiences closer than ever before. Cabaret-style seating at the front of the auditorium places you right in the heart of the action, with characters moving among the audience and the mystery unfolding just feet away. Audience members choosing to dress up are warmly encouraged to do so in 1930s-inspired attire, adding to the period atmosphere and immersive experience.
Robert Tremayne’s direction focuses on pace, tension, and clarity of storytelling, allowing Christie’s masterfully constructed plot to build with relentless suspense. Southwick Players’ accomplished ensemble delivers a richly atmospheric performance, blending wit, elegance, and menace within the intimate setting of The Barn Theatre.
A classic whodunnit told in its original theatrical form, Murder on the Nile promises an evening of immersive, edge-of-your-seat entertainment — where the truth is elusive, and everyone is a suspect.
🚢 Seating & Experience:
The Barn Theatre will be transformed into the deck of the paddle steamer ‘Lotus’, featuring cabaret seating at the front to immerse you in the heart of the action, and raked seating behind for a perfect view of the suspense.

Step aboard for a night of intrigue, elegance, and murder on the Nile… if you dare.
