The Community Centre’s beer festival, held every May, has been a major attraction for more than 10 years.
It’s not only a very good festival for real ales and ciders - it also features quality live entertainment. On top of that, it all takes place in the unique atmosphere of the Barn Theatre and the bars and the gardens of the historic community centre site.
The Beer Festival is a major fundraising event for the Community Association, which is a registered charity. Once the expenses have been met, all the proceeds go towards improving the facilities at the community centre. It helps us improve our buildings and equipment, the Barn Theatre, and the large public garden.
Typically you will be able to choose from around 60 high-quality ales and ciders. Latest news about the list can be viewed here.
Bands play in the Barn during the evening sessions, and in the garden during the afternoon session. Latest news about the groups can be viewed here.
A range of hot food is available from the main Cafe area - and there is also a barbecue in the main garden. Please click here for further details.

Once tickets go on sale, there are several ways of buying them.
On-line … go to our Barn Box Office web-page for on-line ticket sales.
Phone … ring the Barn Box Office (01273 597094) to make your booking - or simply leave a message and they will ring back to help complete your booking.
Visit … the Community Centre in person and buy your tickets from the Community Office, or from the Box Office. But please note that the hours when volunteers are on site are restricted - so it’s best to check by phone first.
On the door … you can buy tickets on the door on the day of the event, but please be aware that some of the sessions are liable to sell out in advance, so you could be disappointed!
Important note: Under-18’s must be accompanied by an adult whilst on the premises. Anybody appearing to be under 18 will not be served alcohol without proof of age. Please don’t be offended if you are asked to produce ID.
We want everyone to have a fantastic time, but we’re a responsible organisation and we’d like festival-goers themselves to be responsible and drink sensibly. This is the friendliest of occasions, but if it does happens that anyone does become unruly - or aggressive to the volunteers or anyone else within the premises - they will of course be asked to leave.
The Festival couldn’t take place in 2020 because of the Covid-19 emergency, but we aim to be back in September 2021
Please see the links below for further details about the event, what’s on offer and how to book tickets.
