Where we are

The range is part of Southwick Community Centre, 24 Southwick Street, Southwick. Go through the main entrance into the garden, then follow the path across the lawn to the range and ring the doorbell to gain access.

What we shoot

  Prone rifle at a range of 25 yards using .22 calibre rimfire rifles.

  Standing air rifle at a range of 10 metres using .177 calibre low power air rifles.

  Standing rifle at 20 yards using .22 rimfire or .177 air rifles.

  Air pistol at 10 metres and 20 yards using low power air pistols.

When we shoot

  Prone rifle is shot on Monday, Tuesday and Friday evenings from 7.30pm till 10pm.

  Air gun is shot on Wednesday evenings from 7.30pm and Saturday mornings from 9.30am till 12 noon.

  The range is open at other times as required.

  Standing rifle using .22 rimfire rifles only takes place on Saturday mornings.

Club Equipment

The club has rifles and pistols for use by members and where necessary shooting jackets, slings, gloves and ear defenders. Rimfire ammunition can be purchased from the club, but cannot be removed from the club unless the purchaser has a Firearm Certificate. Air gun pellets can also be purchased, but can only be taken from the range by persons over the age of 18.

Instruction

New members are classed as Probationary Members for a period of at least 3 months. This is a fixed time set by the Home Office. During this period probationers will be taught to be range safe and can try out the various shooting disciplines available. Prone rifle is taught on Tuesdays and air gun on Wednesdays.

Membership

The club year runs from October to September. Annual subscription is set at the club AGM in September. Members under 18 pay half the annual subscription. The minimum age for new members is 10 years. Members become veterans at the age of 60 and super veterans at 70. Shooting is a life time sport.

Affiliations

The club is affiliated to the National Small-bore Rifle Association (NSRA), Sussex County Small-Bore Rifle Association (SCSBRA), Worthing & West Sussex Small-bore Rifle Association (W&WSSRA) and Eastbourne & District Rifle League.
